Preorders - How it Works
Step 1
Preordering with Downskale is 100% free of charge at the time of order. Simply add any number of preorder items to your cart.
Step 2
When you're ready to check out, the payment page will show you any amount due immediately for items in stock, as well as the outstanding balance to be paid at a later date when preorder items arrive.
Step 3
Preorder items will ship ASAP as they arrive. When any items you have on order arrive in stock, we'll email you an invoice to complete payment. Once payment is made, your items will ship immediately.
Preorder Frequently Asked Questions
Can I purchase preorder items and in-stock items in the same order?
Yes - please do! Our goal is to provide the easiest purchasing experience possible for our customers. While other retailers require you to place separate orders for in-stock vs. preorder items, we've built some robust backend automation that allows us to handle all of the heavy lifting. It's like having a turbo engine that just got a proper tune done!
How does preorder pricing work?
Final pricing for preorders is subject to change by the manufacturer. When you place your preorder, note that the MSRP is subject to change based on final manufacturer pricing and any other import related fees.
When will preorder items ship?
We utilize a fulfillment on arrival model, so preorder items that arrive in stock are shipped to customers immediately upon confirmation of successful payment. If you order contains multiple preorder models, we don't wait for all of them to arrive before shipping. Instead, we ship them to you individually ASAP as they arrive in stock.
Any items that were already in-stock as part of your order will ship ASAP.
How do I pay for preorder items?
When preorder items arrive in stock, you will receive an invoice via email with a link to complete payment for your order. The invoice you receive from us will take into account any applied discounts at the time of the original order. Once payment is completed, your order will ship ASAP.
Due to limited quantities and high demand, you will have 1 week from the time you receive the invoice to complete payment. If 1 week's time elapses and your order remains unpaid, the preorder items will be removed from your order and they will be made available for sale again on the website.
Repeat patterns of non-payment may compromise your ability to place preorders in the future.
How much is shipping for preorders?
Since we ship items as they arrive to us, we incur multiple shipping charges for each shipment sent. For this reason, our normal free shipping policy isn't offered on preorders. Instead, we subsidize the cost of shipping by charging a nominal $3 shipping fee for each preorder item we ship. This doesn't cover the actual full cost of shipping, but ensures we're able to remain a sustainable diecast partner in the market while getting customers their orders ASAP.
Which payment methods are supported for preorders?
All regularly accepted debit and credit cards are permitted during checkout. These include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Unfortunately, we do not accept PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Shop Pay for preorder items due to PCI compliance requirements for delayed payments. These payment methods however are supported for items in-stock.
How long do I have to pay for my preorder?
Once you receive an invoice to complete payment for items that have arrived in stock, you have 7 days to complete payment. If payment is not received by this time, your preorder allocation will be cancelled. You may purchase any remaining inventory through the site. Note that pricing is subject to change.
